Enjoying a camping holiday with your family

Are you and your spouse bothered that you both are not spending enough time with your kids? Well, this is a big issue with working parents and the going can get tough at times. However, you have to make the best of the time that you get with your children. So, it’s time to get your kids off their computer games this weekend and enjoy a wonderful family holiday. It need not be anything extravagant. Make a temporary campsite somewhere near your home, cook the meals on the wood and sit with your kids and study the stars during the nights. Here are some fun things that you can do during the camp.

Arrange a sing-along in the camp. This will develop team spirit in your kids and make family ties stronger in the long run. All the members of your family must participate in this, enjoy the fun of instantly made-up words and singing songs, both in-tune and off-tune. You all can sing your favorite camp songs on the top of your voices. Invite all the members of your family who live nearby to the camp and you will definitely have a great time. The veteran campers can sing the camping songs from their scouting days. Remember that it is not about singing the songs right, it’s about enjoying the time together.

You can also enjoy family campfire cookouts. Even if you cook most of your camp meals on the propane stove, make it a point to cook at least a couple of meals in the open fire. Toss the vegetables and meat together in a Dutch oven. It will be a wonderful, satisfying meal. You can also cook beans with roasted potatoes during the camp. Don’t go in for extravagant desserts during the family camp. Just keep it simple. Pack in s’mores and marshmallows for the camp. Make sure you have enough for all the members of the family who will be camping out.

Enjoy some games during the family camp. You can either play several card games or indulge in some rough games. As far as card games are concerned, you can play Snap, Go Fish and Old Maid. You have to make sure that all the campers participate in the game and enjoy it. As far as outdoor games are concerned you can play softball, basketball or rugby. The essential point is to keep the rules simple. You can be rest assured that this will be one family holiday that you will not forget in a jiffy.
